Dustan Shepherd comes to Guardian Mortgage with over three decades of lending experience. He began originating loans in the 80s and eventually founded his own lending and consulting company whose goal was to provide Native American customers with high-quality, safe, and affordable housing. It was also one of the first companies to work with the HUD Section 184 Indian Home Loan.
For the past 9 years, Dustan has specialized in the renovation financing market – assisting buyers with all the challenges of home improvement mortgage loan financing, including the FHA 203k loan.
Helping clients achieve the dream of home ownership isn’t just an empty catchphrase for Dustan: He works hard to help people reach their goals. He has been active in Fair Housing and Discrimination in Lending issues for years through his work with local and national civil rights causes.
In his spare time, Dustan races ultra-endurance bicycle races known as “gravel grinders,” which
traverse dirt, gravel, and rough backroads throughout the Midwest. He recently finished the Dirty Kanza 200-mile race through the Flint Hills of Kansas, noted as one of the top 10 U.S. events for outdoor adventurers.
